VIOGNIER 2021 - Released May 19, 2022!

TASTING NOTES

Layered and age-worthy, this vintage of Viognier has fresh cut pineapple on the nose, crisp at first and then dipped in honey. Characteristic stonefruit lines a wonderful mid palate density creating a long-textured finish.

Thinking roasted veg garnished with Okanagan Nectarine or Lamb Tagine with honey and almonds.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Viognier fruit in 2021 came from the Naramata Bench and Similkameen. Raisin D'Etre was hand picked on Sept 26th. Gently whole cluster pressed then cool fermented over 3 weeks in a stainless tank. Blind Creek (Keremeos) was picked October 5th. Gently whole cluster pressed and cool fermented in stainless tank over a 2-week period. Once both wines were finished fermentation, they were blended together.

Reviewer's Notes
Anthony Gismondi - 91 Points, Tasted July 2022

2021 is a skillful blend of Naramata understatement and Similkameen wilderness. They were fermented in stainless steel and blended post ferment. This is a stony, fresh, electric version that is delicious. Look for apricots, honeysuckle, spice, and a silky smooth interior enlivened by squeezes of lime. Don't miss this one. It is a super cool BC white wine and the price is very amenable.

Treve Ring - 92 Points, Tasted July 2022

Viognier's inherent lushness is aptly held in check here, with fragrant apricot, ripe peach, honeysuckle gliding across a sleek cold cream base, dusted with gingersnap spicing. Well placed lime-laced acidity easily brightens the 13.9%, leaving the palate fresh. Very smart wine, with great varietal typicity, without being a caricature (so easy to do with this grape).
